  4. Background • Theme: Have confidence in the supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus Christ • Jesus + Nothing = Everything

  5. The Stature of Colossians • He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. (Colossians 1:15) • “I also shall make him My firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.” (Psalm 89:27)

The Stature of Colossians • 16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. 18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. (Colossians 1:16-18)

The Stature of Colossians • 16 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.(Colossians 2:16-17) • “Christ is all that matters, and He lives in all of us.” (Colossians 3:11) • In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (Colossians 2:3)

(Colossians 1:2) • 9 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10 and in Him you have been made complete.(Colossians 2:9-10)

The Significance of Colossians THE GOSPEL AND INSPIRATION • 12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. (Colossians 3:12-13)
