  3. STRING-A-PALOOZA! • 1 HS, 2 MS, 6 ES • Over 330 student participants • Approximately 800 audience members • School-Wide Displays • Alumni Participation, Community Involvement

  4. DOES IT WORK? • Student Retention: OMHS Orchestra has grown from averaging 20-26 per year to two orchestras with a total of over 60 students in 2010-2011, and over 70 for 2011-2012.

  5. DOES IT WORK? • School Support: • ES Principals Support • Community Support • School Community • OMHS Boosters Donated $500 towards the cost • Principal Supported with funds

  6. DEVELOPING YOUR PROGRAM • Start small and build • Be inclusive • Be flexible • Make it work for YOUR program • Build for the long-term.

  7. TIMING • Pick a time • Students choose HS courses in January • Winter concerts are often in December • Daytime or night-time concert? • Time enough for ES and MS preparation
