  1. Primary uses of DMT are: Immediate IFO state feeback to operators/scimons Detector charaterization To serve these purposes, DMT contains tools (monitor programs) to: Track noise level (band limited RMS, Spectra, coherence/bicoherence) Detect/record discrete noise events (glitches) Track operational performance (Lock state, Inspiral range, etc.) DMT Overview

  2. Uses for DMT in Analysis • Data analysis uses monitor results (triggers, trends) from: • Recorded by a standard set of monitors during science runs • Run offline on raw or RDS frames using user specified filters, channel list. • User specified Quick-Look processes • Results are used for: • Identifying transients for use as vetos • Data quality studies • Measuring calibration constants

  3. “ Quick Look” Analysis (Interactive) Interactive use of DMT C++ classes and ROOT • Data frame I/O • Signal processing (IIR & FIR filters, filter design, FFTs, windowing, resampling, etc) • Event manipulation, post analysis • ROOT graphics

  4. Quick-Look (cont'd) • Graphical Utilities (e.g. TrigDsply, fastGlitch) are available to display filtered data around specified times (e.g. triggers) • DMT provides a comfortable environment to write analysis programs: • User writes a class to do specific data processing, initialization and termination. • DMT monitor environment provides I/O and interfacing to external environment

  5. Dedicated DMT Computing Resources • Online monitoring run on 7 SMP nodes (14 CPU) at LHO and 3 SMP nodes (8 CPU) at LLO with direct access to DAQ via GBit ethernet broadcast. • Offline data analysis • Adapting DMT for grid-based execution has started - Will allow use of LIGO grid resources (tier-2 clusters) for DMT-based production processing.
