COSFA Process for University Committee Representation Designations • Previous system involved a nomination and voting process: • Less than 25% of the faculty vote • Difficult for Departments to recruit nominees for each College committee • Inequity in Departmental committee participation • Need for new blood (ideas)

This plan is intended to… • Put less burden on each Department to fill committees • Assure that all Departments are participating in COS committees each year • Provide means whereby each Department eventually serves on all 12 COS committees and COS executive committee • Does away with the unpopular election process

  3. The new plan is based on the size of the faculty of a particular department • 12 COS committee assignments are filled in a given cycle. Of these 12 • 2 will be filled by Biology, Geology, Math, and Chemistry • 1 will be filled by each of the other Departments • The Department will be responsible for filling only their assigned committee(s) for that cycle
