Expected Rates on FEBs in M2-M5 at 14 TeV and L~2x10^33

This presentation analyzes expected rates from Front-End Boards (FEBs) in the M2-M5 regions at 14 TeV with a luminosity of approximately 2x10^33. Using data from Fill 2733 at 8 TeV and an internal monitoring tool, measured rates were extrapolated by a factor of 10 to predict performance at higher energies. While noisy channels were removed, some noise effects (up to 15%) could persist. The findings reveal regions with high inefficiencies due to dead time, especially in M2R3 and M4/M5, necessitating efforts to mitigate noise sources for future runs.

  1. Expected rates on FEBs in M2-M5 at 14 TeV, L~2x10^33Rates from FEBs (internal counters) have been taken in FILL 2733 (15.06.2012 - 8TeV, 4x10^32) with using the Chamber monitor tool and then they have been roughly interpolated (just with multiplying the measured rates by factor 10) to conditions at 14 TeV and L~2x10^33.Very noisy channels have been removed from this analysis but some noise could be introduced on the level of 10-15% at maximum. 2. Next slides present the rates in kHz on hottest pads (R1-R3 – cathodes, R4 - anodes) for every chamber and are shown in simplified CMBs map for each station. Oleg Maev 8.10.12 2

  3. Expected rates in hottest pads in M2 at 14 TeV, L~ 2x10^33 Oleg Maev 8.10.12 3

  4. Expected rates in hottest pads in M3 at 14 TeV, L~ 2x10^33 Oleg Maev 8.10.12 4

  5. Expected rates in hottest pads in M4 at 14 TeV, L~ 2x10^33 Oleg Maev 8.10.12 5

  6. Expected rates in hottest pads in M5 at 14 TeV, L~ 2x10^33 Oleg Maev 8.10.12 6

  7. Oleg Maev Conclusion. All R1 regions and M2/M3 R2 will have pads with high inefficiency (>5%) due to dead time.M2R3 and M4/M5 R2 will be affected as well on a few percent level.M5R4 – depends from shielding from back-splashes (Throttling?)Effect of ineff. due to noise will be very high everywhere. Huge work to reduce the sources of noise has to be done in LS1&LS2. 8.10.12 7

  12. Oleg Maev Conclusion (average on CMB).Most of chambers in R1 region on M2/M3 and M2R2 will have high inefficiency (>5%) due to dead time. Some of CMBs in M2R1 and M4/M5 R1 will be affected as well on a few percent level. 8.10.12 12
