Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Mark 16:3 (Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome) And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?” 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large. 4

But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” 26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 5

(Eccl. 11:4) • God’s Answer—Matt. 6:24-34 (vs. 32-34) Matthew 6:32 For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, 7

  9. God’s Purpose For Our Uncertainties That we might learn to love & trust Him! • Ecclesiastes 3:1-14 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. 12 I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, 13 and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. 14 I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever.Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it.God does it, that men should fear before Him. 9

  10. How Some Dealt With Uncertainties • Elijah - I Kings 19:11-18 • Elijah has escaped from Jezebel and is hiding in a cave when God comes to him 15 Then the Lord said to him: “Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria. 16 Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholahyou shall anoint as prophet in your place. 18 Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.” Keep Working, You're Not Alone 10

  11. How Some Dealt With Uncertainties • Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego –Dan. 3 Daniel 3:15 (Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying to them) But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?” Never Give In To Weakness Daniel 3:17 (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered)  If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” 11

  12. How Some Dealt With Uncertainties • Paul - Acts 20:22,23; 21:11-14 Acts 20:22 (Paul to the Ephesian elders)And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, 23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. Always Be Ready Acts 21:12 Now when we (Paul’s companions) heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” 14 So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.” 12

  13. Things About Which We CAN Be Certain • God & His Word – Tit. 1:2 Titus 1:2 (Paul greets Timothy) in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, 13

  14. Things About Which We CAN Be Certain • God & His Word – Tit. 1:2 • Death & Judgment – Heb. 9:27; Acts 17:30 Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” 14

  15. Things About Which We CAN Be Certain • God & His Word – Tit. 1:2 • Death & Judgment – Heb. 9:27; Acts 17:30 • God’s Protection Through Temptation • I Cor. 10:13 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 15

  16. Things About Which We CAN Be Certain • God & His Word – Tit. 1:2 • Death & Judgment – Heb. 9:27; Acts 17:30 • God’s Protection Through Temptation • I Cor. 10:13 • God’s Help To Carry Out His Will – Phil. 4:13 Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 16

  17. How To Deal With Uncertainties? • Pray About Them - I Pet. 5:7; Phil 4:6-9 I Pet. 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Phil 4:6-9 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 17

  18. How To Deal With Uncertainties? • Pray About Them - I Pet. 5:7; Phil 4:6-9 • Have Confidence that God’s Providence is at work – I Cor. 10:13 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 18

  19. How To Deal With Uncertainties? • Pray About Them - I Pet. 5:7; Phil 4:6-9 • Have Confidence that God’s Providence is at work – I Cor. 10:13 • Think More Of Helping Others – Luke 22:31-32 Luke 22:31 And the Lord said (to Peter), “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” 19

  20. How To Deal With Uncertainties? • Pray About Them - I Pet. 5:7; Phil 4:6-9 • Have Confidence that God’s Providence is at work – I Cor. 10:13 • Think More Of Helping Others – Luke 22:31-32 • Recognize Today Is The Only Day We Have or are Promised – Prov. 27:1; Proverbs 27:1 Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth. 20

  21. James 4:13-17 (NKJV) 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. 21
