Stopping • Watch This! • A driver must stop: • Behind a stop sign • Behind a crosswalk • Behind a red traffic light • Behind the stop line at a red light when right turns are allowed (you may turn when all the traffic and pedestrians clear the intersection) • At a flashing red light • At a sidewalk when there is a pedestrian • When an emergency vehicle is approaching with lights/siren

  9. Stopping Continued • Stopping distance • You must keep enough distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you. • Rule of thumb—1 car length for every 10 mph of speed • Allow more space when it is snowy, icy, foggy, or rainy.
