  2. Dr. Seuss • Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Seuss Geisel was born on March 2nd, 1904 and died on September 24, 1991 • He is the master-mind behind books such as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and The Grinch

  3. Dr. Seuss Continued One of the most beloved and well know characters that Dr. Seuss created was the Cat in the Hat, made famous by the book of the same name. It’s about two kids trapped in a house on a rainy day with nothing to do. Suddenly this crazy character, the Cat in the Hat shows up and he gives them fun. Then things get out of hand when two creatures called Thing 1 and Thing 2 get loose. All appears to be doomed until the pet fish of the two children demands that the Cat in the Hat return everything to normal and never come back.

  4. Dr. Seuss Continued But in the end, the fish realizes that all he did was help the kids have fun, and he DID clean up the mess he made. So in the end he forgave the Cat in the Hat and let him know he was welcomed back whenever he wanted. The book The Cat in the Hat was made into a feature length movie in 2003 starring Mike Meyers. It was number one for 5 weeks.

  6. Edgar Allen Poe • Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809 and died on October 7, 1849. • He is famous for writing about the darker side of the human id and ego. Stories like The Tell Tale Heart and The Raven sent shivers down the spine of any person who read them.

  7. Poe Continued • Before he wrote those, Poe was actually enlisted in the army and stationed at Fort Independence • He also married his second cousin, Virginia Allan

  8. Poe Continued • The cause of Poe’s death is uncertain even today. • All that is known is that Poe died alone in a hospital after being found on the streets in horrible condition. He died four days after being found

  9. Homer • Homer was born in the early 8th Century • Not this guy • This Guy

  10. Homer Continued • Not much is known about Homer. • He is most famous for writing the epics Odyssey and Illiad • Historians are also fairly certain that he had gone blind by the time he started writing Illiad and that he had one of his daughters compose it for him as he dictated it to her. They believe this because of such details of ‘darkness’ he describes
