In this week's environmental science curriculum, students will explore key concepts of systems, energy, and biomes. They will investigate and compare closed, open, and steady-state systems, distinguishing the differences between them. Following this, students will list and give examples of the six forms of energy, including potential and kinetic energy, and understand their formulas. The week includes hands-on activities like setting up water testing labs and preparing biomes in a bag for Mole Day. Students will prepare for the six-week exam after reviewing earlier material.

Draw a sketch of both. • Answer the questions from page 82 after reading about the open and closed systems on page 81. • Activity: Chapter Three activity sheet. • Please work on this activity by yourself. • Tuesday: a lab • Set up jars for lab. • Six weeks exam = Thursday. Over everything from this 6 weeks. • Teacher: set up lab for Tuesday.. Run off copies.
Tuesday October 5 • Objective: Student will list and give examples of the six forms of energy. • Focus: What is potential and kinetic energy? • State the formulas for each. Give examples of potential energy and kinetic energy. • Activity: GET OUT CHAPTER THREE ASSESSMENT ALSO.. • LAB – SETTING UP WATER TESTING • GROUPS OF FOUR. • DISCUSS MOLE DAY – OCTOBER 14 • WE ARE SETTING UP BIOMES IN A BOTTLE. • DISCUSS TRIP TO THE BIG THICKET ** OCTOBER 27 AND 28. • WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY • PERMISSION SLIPS • Homework: study for exam on Thursday. You will NOT be able to use your spiral.. Take it home and study.
