Chapter 8: Distinguish Facts from Opinion • A fact is something that is true about a subject and can be tested or verified.Clues: " 70% of...., or "The students experienced..." • An opinion is what someone thinks about a subject and it cannot be proven true or false. Clues: "I believe...", “I think”, "It's clear...", or “The teachers should..."

  11. Deciding if a sentence is a Fact • The statement is a FACT if you can find proof, or evidencefor it.
