As a universal solvent, it can dissolve many compounds, facilitating nutrient transport in ecosystems. Water's pH neutrality and ability to exist as a liquid between 0-100°C highlight its significance in supporting life. However, its unique properties also make it susceptible to pollution.

  2. This molecule has a high surface tension. In other words, dihydrogen monoxide is adhesive and elastic, and tends to aggregate in drops rather than spread out over a surface as a thin film. This phenomenon also causes this molecule to stick to the sides of vertical structures despite gravity's downward pull. It’s high surface tension allows for the formation of droplets and waves, allows plants to move this molecule (and dissolved nutrients) from their roots to their leaves, and the movement of blood through tiny vessels in the bodies of some animals.   4. This molecule is a universal solvent. It is able to dissolve a large number of different chemical compounds.
