Classroom Etiquette Come to class with your materials, on time Use and take care of materials correctly – remember you are sharing workspace Use appropriate language especially when discussing artwork Artwork stays in the art room until the end of the semester. No food or drink on the work surfaces No generic peace signs, hearts, smiley faces, MAC symbols, etc. No cell phones Mp3 players or audio devices

  9. 3. Cleanup The organization and cleanliness of this room is in your hands There are cleanup expectations everyday Art room when you enter = Art room when you leave

  10. 3. Cleanup  ✔ Brushes must pass the pinch test Brushes get put back bristles up and barrel down Brushes get washed 3 times!

  12. 4. Late Policy If you arrive late to a class without a pass, it will be noted. When late arrival becomes a habit, points will be deducted from your daily participation grade.

  14. 5. Detentions Detentions are served at LUNCH It is rare that detentions are assigned; when they are you will bring your lunch to the art room and then organize/clean art storage & workspace spaces until the end of the period.

  18. 6. Passing Studio Art • Artwork will not be graded based on skill or lack of skill!

  19. 6. Passing Studio Art • Instead you will be graded on: • Fulfilling assignment objectives • Using time wisely • Turning the assignment in on time • Cleanup responsibilities • Following process steps demonstrated in class • Handouts and sketches • Test & Quizzes

Passing Studio Art • Late Work • All late work will be accepted however this is not with out repercussions • Artwork will loose 2 points every day that it is not turned in (this might be waived if you have special circumstances) • Artwork that is not received within 2 weeks of the deadline should still be turned in, but will not earn more or less than a 65% • All artwork must be turned in before the 10 week mark • ZEROS STAY ZERO once the marking period has closed

  21. 6. Passing Studio Art RESUBMISSION: If you are not satisfied with your artwork you may inquire about resubmitting a revised artwork. Please see me for resubmission guidelines and availability. This is an excellent opportunity to create a better artwork; not a way to stretch deadlines. DO NOT ASSUME… …that you will be granted the opportunity to resubmit! There are many factors that go into eligibility.

  22. 6. Passing Studio Art HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS: are graded on a check system and entered as a process grade.

  23. 6. Passing Studio Art PARTICIPATION: will be graded on a daily basis. Participation grades can boost your grade if you are always following the guidelines & expectations. Your “Participation” & “Homework” grades will average together to generate your “Process Grade.” (40% of your average) HINT: Your participation grades and homework grades will get averaged in to create your process grade

  24. 6. Passing Studio Art RUBRICS: all projects will be graded using a rubric. Students will see all rubrics prior to an turning in the artwork in order to know how to achieve the highest grade possible. All rubrics use the same basic criteria with some extras thrown in depending on the assignment tasks

  33. 7. Catching up • When you return, see me AFTER we start work time!! If are you scheduled to be somewhere else during Studio Art, come to class first. Students that do not check in first, will be marked absent!!

  34. 7. Catching up If you have been out for 1 or more classes expect to stay after or come in during a study hall. Even if you are out for legitimate reasons do not expect and infinite amount of time to finish missed work. Unfinished work piles up!!

  36. 8. Parent Info PARENT INFO: I need your parent to email me within the first 2 weeks of school! I will be contact them about the end of the year gallery opening. HOMEWORK: please do this ASAP and get it off your to do list!! Bring the parent sheet home so that your parents can email me using the provided instructions. Once I have received an email from your parent I will mark this assignment complete.
