Egg The egg is very delicate also it is as red as blood on the inside.
Larvae Larvae eat and shed four or five times. Then they turn into a chrysalis.
Chrysalis (pupa) The chrysalis blends in with it's backgrounds. The butterflies also stay in the chrysalis for two weeks.
Adult The adult butterfly crawls out of the chrysalis. Then it waits 1 to 2 days until their wings are dry.

What Do Butterflies Eat? Butterflies eat nectar and fruit. More often they eat nectar. They use there proboscis to eat.
Where Do Butterflies Live? A butterfly lives in many places they live in grasslands, woods, mountains and rainforests. They mostly live in dry places.
This is Interesting! Butterflies do not make houses. They live on trees or leaves, even a flower.
Proboscis Proboscis is the tube that they drink from and keep nectar on so that when they go to a new flower they can let it out. It uncoils and coils when it flies.
Spiracles Spiracles are openings in their bodies that help the butterflies stay alive. They are not like us because we breathe through our mouths.
Antennae The antennae are really important because it helps the butterfly smell. Not like us, we smell through our noses.
Feet Butterflies use there feet to taste if the nectar has been tasted by another butterfly or not. If it was, she or he would not eat it.
Wings This is cool! A butterfly's wings are very delicate they need scales to help them survive and fly.
Eye Butterflies can have compound eyes and singular eyes.
Special Characteristics of Butterflies Butterflies are the second largest lenders of pollen after bees. Also, butterflies can only see red, yellow, and green.
