  2. Aims of the project “to take a holistic view of institutional arrangements for reward and recognition of learning and teaching. The project will also map institutional reward and recognition arrangements to a model of the academic lifecycle and seek to identify inter-relationships and inter-dependencies within the model”

  3. The RARE@MMU project will: • strive to develop a new iteration of MMU’s approach to the fostering of effective practice in learning and teaching • lead to the formulation of a coherent set of targets across a range of metrics that describe the staff development and human resources development challenge.

Residential • What rewards, and how, can we offer to individuals and teams for the enhancement of learning and teaching? • What questions would you ask to quantify teaching excellence? • What can we do to persuade sceptics and non-engaged staff and managers to value and reward teaching? • How can we persuade HoDs to be advocates of learning and teaching?

Mapping of local reward and recognition arrangements has begun discussions with the Director of Marketing, Communication and Development about optimising the publicity surrounding the winners and nominees for the I Love my Lecturer awards  An evaluation of the (FAP) scheme has begun Scoping of the e-Manager and Personnel Development modules in e-HR has begun  development of a ‘Career Escalator’ has begun

RARE @ MMU:Our draft proposals to the Executive • Evaluation, review of the Fellows in Academic Practice scheme, potential establishment of a smaller scheme to promote innovation and quality enhancement in teaching and learning • T&L conference to celebrate good practice, and “I love my lecturer” awards, in collaboration with MMU SU • Guidance and support for academic managers to support a coherent approach to the R &R of teaching and learning within the discipline context • Explicit embedding of the HEA PSF/our own MMU PSF (under development) • eHR – scoping of e-manager and personnel development modules to allow data to be captured that relates to the PSF and professional development • Linking the career escalator to the PSF
