  1. Aqeeda The Muslim’s Belief

  2. Definition of Aqeeda: • Aqada, meaning to bind • A firm, unwavering belief that is not open to any doubt • Creed • Eemaan, or Faith

  3. The correct aqeeda and why it comes first…. • The correct aqeeda is the foundation stone of the Islamic nation. It is known through evidences of the Shariah from the book and the Sunnah, that one’s actions can only be correct and acceptable to Allah when they arise from a correct aqeeda. If the aqeeda is not correct then the actions and statements that arise due to it are invalid. • “Whosever rejects faith, the fruitless is his work and in the hereafter he will be among the loosers.” Surah al Maidah 5:5

  4. The basis of Aqeeda The Messenger believes in what has been revealed to him from His Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. “We make no distinction between one and another of His Messengers.” And they say: “We hear, and we obey: we seek your forgiveness, our Lord and to You is the end of all journeys” Al Bakarah 2:285 Oh you who believe! Believe in Allah, His Messenger, the Book which He has send down to His Messenger, and the Scripture which He has sent down to those before. Whosoever disbelieves in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Last Day has strayed far away. An Nisaa 4:136 The Prophet said: “Eeman is to believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day and to believe in Qadr, the good of it and bad of it.” Bukhari and Muslim

  5. The reality of emaan • Eemaan is the belief of the heart, the profession of the tongue and the actions of the limbs. It increases with obedience to Allah and decreases with disobedience to Allah “The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His verses are recited unto them, they increase their faith; and they put their trust their Lord.” Al Anfaal 2

  6. How to increase Eemaan • Knowledge “First we learnt Eemaan, then we learnt Qur’an and we increased in Eemaan.” ibn Umar “It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves the fear Allah.” Faatir 28 • Deeds: Eeman has over seventy braches. The most excellent of them is to testify that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah, the lowest of them is to remove a harmful thing from the path.” Bukhari and Muslim • Remembrance and Deep thought (tafakur) “And think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth.” Al Imran 191
