    3. Demographics Beaver Creek School District #26 is a one-school district serving approximately 300 kindergarten through eighth grade students who live in the rural, unincorporated communities of McGuireville, Lake Montezuma and Rimrock, Arizona. The District encompasses 150 square miles. The school mascot is the Bobcat and the school colors are maroon and white.

    4. Beaver Creek School campus consists of 27 acres, 11 buildings and 2 modular classrooms, totaling approximately 51,000 square feet. The average class size is 20 with a pupil/certified teacher ratio of 16:1. Beaver Creek offers a full day Kindergarten program with school hours of K-4 8:30 a.m. 2:00 p.m. 5-8 8:15 a.m. 3:00 p.m. High school students may attend any one of three area high schools within a 20 mile radius.

Beaver Creek School is a member of the Arizona Small and Rural Schools Association, the Special Programs Consortium for Yavapai County Schools and the Northern Arizona Math and Science Consortium. ` It is governed by a 5-member school board that holds its regular meetings on the second Monday of each month beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the main office.

    6. A hot lunch is offered for all grades for a minimal charge and a federally-sponsored free or reduced fee program is available. Over 60% of Beaver Creek students qualify. A free breakfast is offered for all students. Detailed information on school boundaries and available bus service may be obtained from the main office.

    7. Beaver Creek School District #26 has a long and rich tradition beginning in a log cabin in 1881 with 11 students. After a history of fires, moves, and recon-struction, a 2-room rock school house was built in 1932. The land was originally donated by the Eaton family who owned the nearby dude ranch, Rimrock Ranch. Programs Although Beaver Creek is considered a small school, it offers Special Education, ESL, Gifted and Title I programs and is fortunate to have certified and classified personnel assisting classroom teachers, especially in the areas of reading and math. The Accelerated Reader, a skills-based literature program, includes thousands of titles available in the school library for children to read and later test over to measure their comprehension.

    10. The school offers a choir and band program for enjoyment and to enhance self esteem. Extracurricular sports of volleyball, football, softball, track, and basketball allow students an opportunity for activity and exercise and to develop their skills.

Active student organizations include: -Student Council -National Junior Honor Society -Builders Club (sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club to provide youth community volunteer opportunities; now has a diversified membership of Hispanic, Native American, Black and Anglo students) -PACT (a parent and classroom teacher group)

    12. -ASCAP (a volunteer group providing an after school community arts program) -DARE (a drug and alcohol resistance program sponsored by Yavapai County Sheriffs Department) -Garden Club (includes work with a Davis Instrument Weather Station donated by APS) - Peer Mediation -Computer Club -Pep Club

    13. Beaver Creek School also has an active volunteer program providing students with a host of additional opportunities not otherwise available. The school provides on-site nursing services which include free immunizations, vision and hearing tests as well as health screenings and referrals. For the past several summers, the school has provided an activity enrichment program during June which includes arts, crafts, outdoors and other activities.

    14. The school Yearbook work begins in September with a theme and cover design contest and includes a montage page for each group and class represented. A special program called Prime Time allows teachers to nominate students with exemplary behaviors to participate in an evening program of fun and learning. Outstanding students are also recognized at all levels with a Student of the Month award, Honor Roll, Star Student, and Kiwanis most improved student awards.

    15. Every January, the school provides a cultural awareness event entitled Hands Around the World which places a focus on a different region of the world and its culture. Various competitive programs such as a Science Fair, Geography and Spelling Bees allow students to showcase their knowledge and skills at the local, regional and state levels.
