  1. Couches take a lot of abuse, especially in a home where there are pets and children. To keep on top of normal wear and tear you can easily clean your couch at least once a week. One thing to remember is that when you are using specific upholstery cleaning products you need to take caution. Read the directions to make sure that you are doing it correctly because if you do not you could ruin your couch. To clean your couch routinely and keep it looking it new you should vacuum the arms, back, and cushions regularly with the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner. You can also use a handheld vacuum cleaner. Any remaining dirt and dust can be wiped away with a cloth that is slightly damp.

  2. Before you clean your couch look for any specific manufacturer directions that tell you how to clean your couch and what type of fabric cleaner you can use. If you have a new couch that came with a fabric care warranty, make sure that you check it for anything that may void the warranty before you clean it with any type of cleaner. If you are unsure how to clean your couch or do not have the time you can have Couch Cleaning Gold Coast do it for you.

  3. Depending on what type of upholstery your couch is made from you should be able to clean it using just a damp cloth on the stains. When something is spilled on your couch make sure that you wipe it up as quickly as possible. The first thing that you should do with spills is to blot it with a dry cloth. If it is necessary you can spot treat that area with a damp cloth and mild soap. If that does not work then you may need to use stain remover specifically for upholstery. Before using the spot remover make sure that you test it in a place that will be hidden from view to make sure it is safe for that particular upholstery. The reason is that some upholstery may bleach or bleed out when stain remover is applied.

  4. For vinyl or leather couches there are specific kits you can buy for cleaning these materials. To keep your leather couch soft and supple you should routinely clean it so you can avoid cracks that can appear from dryness. Make sure that if you need to use a spot treatment removal product that it states that it is made for leather couches. Again, try it in a hidden spot to make sure it will not affect your couch. Most times a leather couch can be kept clean using just a damp cloth according to Upholstery Cleaning Gold Coast, rug cleaning Gold Coast.
