INTRODUCTORY FACTS • France is a country in Europe bordering Belgium, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, Italy and Switzerland • The capital city is Paris, the official language is French and the area of the country is 674,843 km² • There are 64.1m people living in France • The currency is Euros • They are famous for there cheese, wine and bread • They are known in many sports including football, rugby, cycling and tennis • They have hosted many sporting events including the football world cup, the Tour de France and the Tennis French open etc.

  3. Paris There are many attractions in Paris including; Disney Land, The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre Museum, The Arch de Triomphre and Notre Dame. Paris held the 2005 champions league final. Paris the capital of France. Paris isfamous for the Eiffel Tower which sits on the banks of the river Seine.

  4. SUZANNE LENGLEN • Suzanne Rachel Flore Lenglen (24 May 1899 – 4 July 1938) was a French tennis player who won 13 Grand Slam titles from 1914 through 1926. A flamboyant, trendsetting athlete, she was the first female tennis celebrity and one of the first international female sport stars. • In June 1938, the French press announced that Lenglen had been diagnosed with leukemia. Only three weeks later, she went blind. She died of pernicious anemia on July 4, 1938. She is buried in the Cimetière de Saint-Ouen at Saint-Ouen near Paris.
