Tips on How to Level a Concrete Floor

The floor is indeed the busiest part and also the most widened space in any area that gets explored first. A pretty decoration is incomplete if the floor is kept unnoticed. A well maintained, polished and tidy floor can add that extra accent to the whole look and make a big difference.

  2. Preparation is the key to producing any good quality result. Below are ways of how and what should you do in order to level a concrete floor. First, empty the space by removing all the furniture and other stuff from that area, and then sweep the floor to remove any dust from the floor. But before dusting damp down the area to keep the dust not floating everywhere. Do not use a vacuum cleaner as the heavy dust particle of the floor may damage it.

  3.  Second, mark all the cracks and dips of the floor with any marker ink or chalk. Distinguish the dips and cracks by marking it differently, so it is easier for you to categorise the damage level.  There are compounds that can fix such dips and crack. So buy them and then mix the concrete repairing mixture to fill up any spots or cracks on the floor. Place a protective sheet where you are going to mix the mixture. But before using the floor levelling compounds do read the instructions as how much thickness of dips it can fill and mix it to the right consistency. Then allow it to dry. Make sure to seal the floor from all four sides before applying it.

  4. Now use a concrete grinder to level down all the high spots. You can rent a grinder as per the size you require for your job. Do wear all the necessary protective stuff; like gloves and mask and splash-proof goggles to stop you from inhaling powder and affecting your eyes. After this clean the floor to remove any oil, spot of grease or concrete chips and allow the surface to dry. Once it is dried pour primer on the clean and dry floor and then by using push broom with soft-bristles spread it evenly over the entire area of the floor. Push it and spread so that it gets into the pores of the concrete.

  5. Once you apply the primer, allow it dry. This may take a day. After this mix the self- levelling concrete mix compound and dump all of it on the floor. Use a steel smoother to spread it evenly on the surface. D??’? forget to read the ?a???ac?????’? guide before preparing the mixture. Using steel smoother for spreading the concrete mixture allows it fill the floor evenly throughout and also filling up any small depressions or marks.

  6. These are the steps you need to follow for levelling a concrete floor. If you want to make your floor look even and smooth then you just need to invest a bit of your time and then can have a shiny polished floor. If you are bored with the same old grey colour of the concrete, no need to worry you can now add colours to the concrete and get rid of the old pattern. Hence, you can now give a completely new look to your concrete floors. Content Designed By: Sound Concrete Co
