Wikispace Many, many different uses!!! • One use: Use as a class website: • -Newsletter – students create updates on their work for parental & community viewing. • -Discussion – pages designated for student discussion • -Links- create links to blogsites, etc. • -Share work –can upload word documents and other files and video • -Projects –students can create podcasts, video of plays, etc. to be displayed on site.

  3. What is wikispace? • Free!!!!- for teachers. • http://www.wikispaces.com/ • Easy to use –help via-video tour and instruct. • My wiki • Protection –various levels of protection • Examples of other educational wikis.

  4. Gallery of Writing • Free! • Easy to apply. • Teachers can become curators to display students writing to be unveiled via the archived website to the world on Oct. 20 –The National Day of Writing. • www.galleryofwriting.org

  5. Epals • Use -students converse via email or collaborate on projects across curriculums within Legacy or the entire world! Students can learn about other cultures from the students themselves. Seek out classes to speak to or work with . Can translate student’s writings instantly into 11 major languages. • www.epals.com

Here are a few to consider: • With the tools that I have been introduced to, I can’t wait to… • Use my teacher created WikiPages to disseminate news and assignments to my students and their parents. • Use my teacher created WikiPages to LINK assignment information (lecture notes, PowerPoints, etc.) for better organization. • Use my teacher created WikiPages to highlight Student of the Week (said student will be selected by other students and will be my Teacher’s Assistant for the week) • Use Audacity to create more PodCasts for class use • Use Google Docs more than I do to create and store documents, presentations and forms. • Use Wordle to introduce new Unit Vocabulary words • Use Glogster as an assessment tool after reading literature selections • Use student created WikiPages to publish my student’s Poetry Portfolios • Use student created WikiPages to publish my student’s Book Talks • Use student created WikiPages to publish my student’s autobiographical sketches • Use student created WikiPages to publish a quarterly E-Portfolio • Check out this cool wiki- http://msburtonisonline.pbworks.com
