  9. In-class Activity Design -1 Learning Objective(s) of In-Class Activity At the end of the class, students will be able to, • Key Concept(s) to be covered

  10. In-class Activity Design -2 Active Learning activity(ies) that you plan to do Real world problem solving using. Disaster Management. Hurricane Katrina is seen by many as the first time that GIS was used a disaster management tool. ... Crime Statistics. ... Archaeology. ... Civic Planning. ... Health / Medical Resource Management. ..

  11. In-class Activity Design -2 Peer Instruction Strategy – What Teacher Does Pose the two PI questions at the start of the class and provide summary of basic identities and expression simplification. Q 1: GIS deals with which kind of data 1. Numeric data 2.Binary data 3.Spatial data 4.Complex data

  12. In-class Activity Design -2 Peer Instruction Strategy – What Teacher Does  Q 2: Which of the following is true 1.Nominal & categorical data values are referred to as ‘qualitative data’ 2.Internal & Ratio data is known as ‘quantitative data’ 3.Ordinal data refers to a ranking scheme or some kind of hierarchical phenomena 4.All of the above

  13. In-class Activity Design -2 Peer Instruction Strategy – What Student Does Which of the following is true Nominal & categorical data values are referred to as ‘qualitative data’ Internal & Ratio data Ordinal data refers to a ranking scheme or some kind of hierarchical phenomena All of the above GIS deals with which kind of data Numeric data Binary data Spatial data Complex data

  14. In-class Activity Design -2 TPS Strategy – What Instructor does

  15. In-class Activity Design -2 TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Data from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer has been used to carry out land cover classification at continental scales. The specific data sets that have been used, have substantial limitations and the need for the use of alternate data bases is outlined. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MODIS) of the Earth Observing System (EOS) will be a substantially better instrument in terms of several spectral, radiometric, and geometric properties than the AVHRR. However, in terms of its total field of view and frequency of imaging, the instrument will be comparable to the AVHRR for global land cover monitoring.

  16. In-class Activity Design -2 TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Thus the discussion makes the students to have a vast knowledge the Earth Observing System (EOS) will be a substantially better instrument in terms of several spectral, radiometric, and geometric properties than the AVHRR. However, in terms of its total field of view and frequency of imaging, the instrument will be comparable to the AVHRR for global land cover monitoring.

  17. In-class Activity Design -2 TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Sharing ideas of students: 1.Thus, GIS is playing an increasingly important role in civil engineering companies, supporting all phases of the infrastructure life cycle. 2. Built on a database rather than individual project files, GIS enables civil engineers to easily manage, reuse, share, and analyze data, saving time and resources.

  18. In-class Activity Design -2 Feedback: Students had a vast knowledge about the both the above strategies by giving the listening techniques, questioning techniques Also the thinking of questions and pairing the group techniques also used the students to learn a lot. Sharing the ideas gave students confident in the subject. Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system intended to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present all types of geographical data. In the simplest terms, GIS is the merging of cartography, statistical analysis, and database technologThank you
