  2. VERGİBİLİR: TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN TO RAISE TAXAWARENESS Target is to inform children about taxation in accordance with their understanding level and to raise tax awareness

  3. VERGİBİLİR: TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN TO RAISE TAXAWARENESS The target audience of the Project is approximately 4 million primary school students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.

  4. THE SUBJECTS OF TRAINING • What is tax, who pays tax? • Why are taxes necessary? • Where and how are taxes spent? • How are tax collection and budget spending audited?

  5. MATERIALS OF THE PROJECT • Presentation file which includes visual stimulus, • Teacher Handbook • Student Book, • Website (www.vergibilir.gov.tr)

  6. VERGİBİLİR: TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN TO RAISE TAXAWARENESS The Project is conducted by Presidency of Revenue Administration in cooperation with Ministry of National Education under the “Vergibilir Study Protocol” signed by two ministries on June 13,2007.

  7. VERGİBİLİR TRAINERS • The trainings are given by 299 trainers selected by Ministry of National Education from all 81 provinces. • Trainers are selected from social science teachers, class teachers and tradeschool teachers on a volunteer basis.

  8. VERGİBİLİR TRAININGS • For the first phase of the project, Ankara has been selected as the pilot region and total 4.420 students were trained. • After the pilot study, Vergibilir trainings has been started in 2009-2010 school year and 330.000 primary school students has joined Vergibilir trainings as of June 2011.

  9. VERGİBİLİR TRAININGS • Vergibilir trainings will be continued in2011-2012 school year nationwide. • Vergibilir trainings are planned to be completed within 5 year period as specified in "Vergibilir Study Protocol".

  10. VERGİBİLİR WEBSITE • A website, which contains educational and entertaining games, stories and different activities about tax were prepared for children in scope of the project. (www.vergibilir.gov.tr). • It can also be accessed to this website from the website of Presidency of Revenue Administration (www.gib.gov.tr).

  11. VERGİBİLİR SONGS A CD called “Vergibilir Songs” has been prepared for primary school students under this study, aiming at primary school children to provide family and school affection and to develop hygiene and nutrition habits and to raise tax awareness.
