  2. Date of birth and birth place. Sally Ride was born in Los Angeles, California on May 26, 1951.

  3. Her close family. • Sally is the oldest of two children. • The other child is her sister, Karen Ride. • Sally’s mother’s name was Joyce Ride. • Sally’s fathers name was Dale Ride.

  4. What’s going on in Sally’s early childhood • In Sally’s childhood, she was an athlete. • Sally fell in love with tennis when she was in Europe on a trip.

  5. Education(schools,learning) • Sally attended three different colleges. • She attended the colleges of Swarthmore in Pennsylvania and Stanford University in California. • When Sally was young she went to Westlake School for girls. • As she got older she attended Portola Middle School.

  6. Adult Life • Sally began to be an astronaut in the year of 1978. • She was at the age of 27. • Sally was married to Steve Hawley while working for NASA. • Sally and Steve are now divorced.

  7. Important Events • The amazing Sally Ride applied into NASA in the year of 1977 at the age of 16. • Her first mission in space was on June 18,1983 on the spaceship called the 7 Challenger.

  9. Why So Important? • Sally Ride is known and important because she was the first woman astronaut to go outer space.

  10. Interesting Facts • An interesting thing I have found about Sally is that she is an athlete. • I think Sally would get along with lots of people including me because a lot of people play sports.

  11. Important Lessons Two important lessons that people may learn from the way Sally lives are: • That she puts fun in her life. • Also that she had a very important job and she loved it. • One day I might live like her.
