  5. Homeroom Math • Students will have a half an hour extra of math four days per week • Focus will be on concepts already presented in math class to obtain a strong foundation.

  6. 1st Grade Buddies • 6th graders working with 1st graders • Supports curriculum • Fosters leadership

  7. Band/Music/Computer Lab • Tuesday and Thursday • 1:35-2:35 P.M.

  8. Internet Access • Internet for research • Teachers supervise access • Form must be signed • Filter • Mobile lab

  9. Pre-arranged Absences • Get form at office • Give advance notice • Will alleviate need to take textbooks on trips

  10. Field Trips • Budget considerations • PTA subsidizes costs • Canoe and Zoo

  11. Human Growth and Development / HIV • Lesson in Spring • Boys and girls have separate lessons • Materials are available at the District Office

  12. MSP • On-line in May • Reading and math only

  13. On-line testing 3 times per year Reading, Language Usage, Math, Science Report results to parents MAP

  14. DRA2 • Looks at fluency and comprehension • Students are tested to highest level of success • Takes place in Winter and Spring

  15. Language Arts Curriculum • Focused on building love of reading, awareness of grammar, literary analysis and understanding, and narrative writing quality. • Mix of instruction and workshop learning • Driven by key ideas/ standards

  16. Science Curriculum • Middle-school curriculum • Researched based • Problem centered • Three units

  17. Math Curriculum • Prentice Hall (book available on-line) Online Homework Video Tutor available for each lesson! • Aligned with state performance expectations.

  18. Social Studies/Research • Focuses on ancient civilizations • Research supports curriculum • Several project based assignments • Classroom Based Assessment in the Spring that is Research Based.
