  2. Purpose/Background of Activity • The purpose of the project is to provide a cheap and portable water purification system that can be used in areas where clean water is in short supply. It is very important that people have access to clean drinking water for many reasons. • The region we focused on was Somalia and Ethiopia. The water conditions in these area are terrible. These area have a very high mortality rate among children and it can be directly linked to poor water quality and poor health care. In Somalia only 30% of the population have access to clean drinking water. With a population of over 9 million people that is a very few people. In Ethiopia only 26% of the population have access to clean water.

  3. Product Design and Images These are the prototypes of 2 designs will produce. Design 1 is a portable unit to be used in 3rd World Countries. Design 2 is to be used in more developed contries.

  4. Manufacturing Business Information • The name of our company is Freshwater International • We will produce low cost high quality portable water purification units for 3rd world countries. We will also produce in line filters for developed countries as extra precautions against contamination. • Our products will be made of recycled plastic and other recycled materials that can be used. By using recycled materials this will cut down on the pollution of the water system in the areas of the plants. • We will get our materials from local recycling plants and will also have the ability at our plants to recycle plastics and other materials.

Also minutes from a major UPS shipping hub. • Several major roads that service the area. (I-64 and I-75) • Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa • 22,733 sq. ft. with room to expand if needed. • Costs $101.00 per sq. ft. with a sale price of $2,298,858 • Minutes from the OR Tango Airport • Also has several major roads that service the area.

Demographics • Frankfort Kentucky • 47% male/53% female • Overall population of 27,590 • Made up of 82% white and 15% African American • Cost of Living 13.1% below national average and 5.2% below state average. • Median Income $38,488 • Unemployment Rate is 9.9% • Education 33.2% have completed high school and 24.9% have gone on to college. • Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa. • Its almost a 50/50 split in males to females. • Overall population is 12.2 million people. • 77.4% African American and 15.1% white. • Unemployment rate of 25.8% • Median Income for males is $3696 American and $3083 American for women. • Education 41% of the people have completed high school. 8.4% of the people over the age of 20 have had no formal education. Has many universities to continue education. • Living Conditions are good for a developing country. 82% have working sewer systems. 73% of households have electricity and 47% have running water in their house. While 84% have running water on their property.
