  2. FIRST MARKING PERIOD Predict: Based off the title and the front cover of the book, what do you think Anderson’s novel is about? What about speaking out? (1/2 page entry) First Marking Period: Write about an instance in which you refused to speak. Then, write about an instance in which you spoke up. After reaching ½ a page, list the pros and cons for each scenario. Journal Entries for Speak: One entry per day. Four entries total. Minimum of one page front and back (1/2 page per entry). Due Thursday in the red box.

(1/2 page entry) Fourth Marking Period: Respond to “Listen” a poem compiled by Laurie Halse Anderson from real letters written to her regarding her book. (1/2 page entry) Journal Entries for Speak: One entry per day. Four entries total. Minimum of one page front and back (1/2 page per entry). Due Thursday in the red box.
