  2. Ghana The Republic of Ghana is named after the medieval West African Ghana Empire. The Empire became known in Europe and Arabia as the Ghana Empire by the title of its emperor, the Ghana. English is the official Language. Some major Ghanaian languages are Akan, Ewe, Ga, Dagbani, Nzema and Hausa.

  3. plants This is a crop which they grow when they are farming. They use this grain for food.

  4. animals • This is an elephant from Ghana. • People in Ghana use elephants for carrying them and their belongings. • (Elephants are in danger because people are killing them for their ivory tusks.)

  5. plants • These are pineapples that still have to be harvested. In Ghana these are eaten. Pineapples are grown on farms or plantations. Pineapples are shipped to other countries so that they can be eaten and provide money for the farmer.

  6. animal • This is a herd of hippos Hippos may look nice but are very dangerous. A much smaller (440 to 605 pounds) species of hippo is the pygmy hippopotamus. Limited to very restricted ranges in West Africa, it is a shy, solitary forest dweller, and now rare.

  7. plants • This is a jungle In jungles people chop down trees and kill plants. African mahogany, and cedar grow a lot in the tropical forest zone of the south.

  8. Animal • This is a Red River Hog The red river hog has striking red fur, with black legs and a tufted white stripe along the spine and fantastic ear tufts. They have white face markings around the eyes and on the cheeks and jaws. The rest of the face is black.
