  20. Drought Outlook

  21. The 2007 South West summer Monsoon, despite a rusty start, has finally spread all over India. The monsoon rainfall over India, since the 1 June start, has been above normal.

  22. Two unusual cyclones, Gonu, a Category 5 Hurricane in early June and Tropical Depression TD 03B (never officially given a name by IMD, India Met. Dept even though it was claimed by US Naval Res. Lab to have possibly reached Category 1 Hurricane strength winds), caused record setting devastating damage to people and property in the Middle East and Pakistan. GONU’s track Such a strong cyclone as Gonu (Cat 5) has never been observed before in that region. Previous cyclones in the vicinity rarely reached hurricane strength winds. Gonu Tropical Depression (?) 03B

  23. North American Monsoon • During June 2007, central Mexico has received substantial rainfalls. • Precipitation over southern Mexico was below average.
