  1. VR Context Study Graphs For Jeremy

  2. Abstract

  3. Design • 2 conditions • Environment (Speech recognition) • Person (Day care supervisor) • 2 contexts per condition • Read 8 words per context • Hear a response to each word • Recall word pairs for each context • Recognize individual words for each context

  4. Environment

  5. Person (Female)

  6. Person (Male)

  7. Round 1 Round 2 Say:Hear Say:Hear house:door nose:face old:death kiss:touch lava:fire lion:teeth rabbit:ears bird:tree arm:foot church:book hit:family woman:skirt water:shark venom:snake flower:stem beetle:wing

  8. Significant results..

  9. Pair recall • Criteria for correct: • Both heard and said word recalled (and recalled as associated to one another) • Had to remember which was said and heard. • Also had to recall which person/environment the pair came from.

  10. Word recall • Criteria: • Single word memory • Did not have to remember pair, who said, or which person/context it came from.

  11. Recall/Recognition as a factor

  12. Retrieval condition as a measure

  13. Non-Significant Resultsof Interest • Overall rate of recall the same in the person and environment conditions. • True when analyzing single word memory, paired word memory. • Undermines explanation that differences in retrieval were due to more “elaboration” in the person condition (if so, there should be a main effect on total recall). • Arousal and peopleness of terms did NOT interact significantly in any analysis.
