  1. Instant CAmpus Biking Solution Prof. M. Balakrishnan Prof. PVM Rao Siddharth Eswaran Umang Mittal

  2. Project Goals To develop integrated hardware and software for issue and deposit of bicycles in smart automatic stands distributed over a metropolitan wide area. The stands could be at bus stops, metro stops, within closed or open campuses, public parks or pedestrian only zones like city centers.

  3. A Policy Push For Pedal Power “Estimates suggest that over 750 km of roads in Delhi have enough room for cycle tracks. For preparing a bicycle master plan for the city, the MCD has set up a cycle track cell with a chief architect, senior engineers and an expert from IIT-Delhi as its members.” “The Two big city projects: the new grade separator coming up at Mukarba crossing on NH 1 and the 16-km high-capacity bus corridor between Ambedkar Nagar and Delhi Gate have cycle tracks incorporated in the design.” -- The Times of India Thursday, April 26, 2007

  8. The Central Server The central server has the following functionalities: Creation and monitoring of user accounts. Database of user details Information about all transactions It will communicate with all the stands using a wireless system. It will update the database of bicycles by gathering information on the issuing and depositing of bicycles in different stands.

  9. The Stand User friendly interface with a smart card reader Automatic locks that are foolproof and secure A controller that handles the user requests and locks/unlocks the bicycles Sends records of all transactions to the central server Administrator mode for maintenance
