The student a. Plans and drafts independently and resourcefully. PLO: Students will complete a graphic organizer to help them better understand the prewriting stage of the writing process.

    3. Form of Writing A poet expresses his or her emotions by writing a poem that relates to sight, smell, taste, sound, and touch. It usually contains five lines and sometimes includes similes and metaphors. This type of poem is called Five-Senses Poetry.

    4. Stage of Writing Prewriting is known as the getting ready to write stage. It is important to think about your ideas before you start writing. During the prewriting stage, you will choose a topic, consider purpose, form, and audience.

    9. Practice Activity Students will think about their five senses. Then, students will think about their classroom. Finally, as a class we will complete a graphic organizer that pertains to our five senses and the classroom.

    10. Assessment Activity Students will complete their own graphic organizer. Their topic is My World. They will think about their five senses and what happens in their world or in their everyday life.

Revises manuscripts to improve the meaning and focus of writing by adding, deleting, consolidating, clarifying, and rearranging words and sentences. PLO: Students will revise their drafts by adding, deleting, changing, and rearranging information.

    17. Assessment Activity Students will receive a copy of the five-senses poem Satisfaction. Students will add, delete, change, and rearrange the words to revise it for improvement. Satisfaction Peace is a rainbow of color. It smells like a rose, and it tastes like sugar. Peace sounds like a bluebird and feels like a handshake.
