Practicing neurosurgeon, Professor, Vice Chair, and Director of Clinical Education in Neurosurgery at Houston’s University of Texas Medical School, Dr. Arthur Day has a long and successful career as a physician, surgeon, professor, researcher, and guest lecturer. Dr. Day’s clinical interests include minimally invasive spinal surgery, brain aneurysms, and skull base and orbital tumors, particularly meningiomas and schwannomas, as well as sports-related neurological injuries. With numerous visiting professorships and named lectureships in the United States, Japan, China, and other countries, Dr. Day mentors medical and academic professionals as part of his academic responsibilities. Dr. Day’s major research interests include basic research in neuroprotection in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes and biomarkers of neural injury. Surgical treatment of intracranial aneurysms and other vascular lesions is another of his clinical research interests. An author, co-author, and co-editor of over 170 published articles, book chapters, and books, Dr. Arthur Day has served as a guest editor for multiple journals within the specialty. Often named as a Best Doctor in America by peers and the public, Dr. Day includes multiple honored guest and guest editorial invitations among his numerous honors and achievements. Dr. Day received a 2003 Drake Lectureship in the Joint Section of Cerebrovascular Surgery and gave the 2000 Donaghy Lecture to the Joint Section of Cerebrovascular Surgery, the two most prestigious lectureships in his clinical area of interest.
