  2. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist Part#1: Steps intended to be executed by the site's systems programmer: • Download the INSTALL file (Installation Guide -IG- 2.3.2) • Read the README file of this file (IG 2.3.4) • Edit BC1JJB01, BC1JJB02 and CHM4000 and change the variables (IG 2.3.4.2) • Optionally change the SMP/E defines in BC1JJB01. • Submit job BC1JJB01 to define the Endevor SMP/E environment (IG2.3.5) • Submit job BC1JJB02 to receive apply and accept Endevor release 4.0 (IG 2.3.6)

  3. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist Part#1: Steps intended to be executed by the site's systems programmer: • Authorize the AUTHLIB or move the contents to an existing authlib • For existing installations that need to run 3.9 and 4.0 simultaneously, make sure that the 4.0 libraries cannot be used by accident. (IG 2.4.1) • Optionally install the ICHRCX01 security exit (in place of the alternate-id) • ACF2 users will need apar QO11791 and QO11792. • TSS users will need to install apar QO12982.

  4. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist Part#1: Steps intended to be executed by the site's systems programmer: • Create an Endevor 4.0 environment under TSO (IG 2.5 and onwards) • Define Endevor to GRS if not already defined (IG 2.6.2) • ACF2 users only, modify TSO COMMAND LIMITING facility to allow the use of commands like ESORT etc (IG 2.6.4)

  5. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist Steps intended to be executed by the site's Endevor administrator: Part#2a: Implement a release 4.0 test environment • Read the FAQS appendix-B of the Getting Started Guide -GS-. • Read the upgrading to release 4.0 section in appendix-A of the implementation guide • Read the README file of the INSTALL file. • Optionally install the sample application (GS 3.1-3.33)

  6. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist Part#2b: Migrate your existing Environments. • Create the Element Catalog (GS A2) see below for size calculations. • Allocate and convert the release 4.0 MCFs and PKG files (GS A2/A3) • Consider defining/using the Site Defined Symbolics (IG 3.8, Admin Guide 4) • Create your release 4.0 C1DEFLTS and ENDICNFG tables (GS A4) see sections below: C1DEFLTS/ENDICNFG 3.9 -> 4.0 parameter changes.

  7. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist Part#2b: Migrate your existing Environments. • Create your release 4.0 ENCOPTBL tables (IG, README, FAQS) • If necessary apply other needed optional ptfs (README and GS-B3). • Allocate and build or convert the release 4.0 ACMQ files (GS A3). Existing users can convert their data. New ACMQ users MUST build their data from their component lists. • Load the Element Catalog files (Getting Started -GS- page A4). Remove the DELETE/DEFINE step at the bottom; this has already been done. • Synchronize the element Catalog (GS A4). If RC=04, run with in UPDATE mode

  8. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist Part#2b: Migrate your existing Environments. • Regenerate your exits and API programs using the 4.0 libraries (FAQS) • Optionally copy over your existing base/delta/Source-output and processor libraries and change the system definitions that use these libraries (GS A5/A6). • Validate your parameter modifications: Allocate file EN$TROPT under TSO ("TSO ALLOC FI(EN$TROPT) SYSOUT") and enter Endevor from under TSO. After exiting Endevor, look at the output (SDSF) and see if all selected option table settings were indeed activated. Likewise, submit a batch SCL job with //EN$TROPT DD SYSOUT=* and do the same validation.

  9. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist VERY IMPORTANT DO NOT SHARE 4.0 MCFs between release 4.0 and release 3.9. Any release 3.9 updates will cause your 4.0 element catalog to be out of sync.

  10. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist New File Estimate • Element Catalog size estimate: • Allocate 1 cylinder 3390 for every 600 elements in PROD • Element Index size estimate: • Allocate 1 cylinder 3390 for every 2000 elements in PROD

  11. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist C1DEFLTS Changes • C1DEFLTS 3.9 -> 4.0 parameter changes • Obsolete parameters: ACMIDXUP, CFPDSN, CSP. • New parameters: ELMCATL, SYMBOLTBL, CA7JCLID, CA7JCLLIB, CA7JCLDSN

  12. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist ENDICNFG Changes • ENDICNFG 3.9 -> 4.0 parameter changes • Changed parameters: • BUILD_USING_MAP default changed from N to Y • GENERATE_COPYBACK=N changed to QE_GENERATE_IN_PLACE=N (note the change of the function) • New parameters: • QE_BUILD_USING_MAP=Y • QE_RETURN_FIRST_FOUND=Y

  13. Endevor 3.9 to 4.0 upgrade checklist Miscellaneous notes: • Let your local support team know when you migrate your production to release 4.0. They’ll do everything to help you to migrate successfully. • Prepare a plan to return to release 3.9 (and test it). • Obtain 4.0 compatibility ptf for release 3.9 (P003216) • Migrate your ACMQ files to the release 3.9 format (BC1JAC39). • Release 3.9 and 4.0 cannot coexist in the same TSO session. After having used one version you have to return to the READY prompt (or log off) to be able to use the other version.
