  7. Rev. 3:17 – Their condition Bragged about their material wealth, but they were spiritually poor. The complacency of the modern, well-to-do church!

  8. Rev. 3:18 – Their condition “Gold refined in the fire” 1 Peter 1:7 Live by faith in the midst of trials. We hate trials, but a proper response is gold!

  9. Rev. 3:18 – Their condition “White garments…shame of nakedness” Rev. 19:8; 3:4; 16:15; 1 John 2:28

  10. Rev. 3:18 – Their condition “Eye salve” Proverbs 20:12; 1 John 3:6

  11. Rev. 3:19a – The Remedy “Love…chasten” Heb. 12:3-11; Job 5:17-18 Child-training of believers

  12. Rev. 3:19b – The Response “Be zealous” “To be deeply interested in someone” “Show that the congregation is zealous about the Lord’s interests”

  13. Rev. 3:19b – The Response “Repent” Get right with God!

  14. Rev. 3:20 – The Invitation “Behold” Attention getter! 

  15. Rev. 3:20 – The Invitation “The door” i.e. of the church

  16. Rev. 3:20 – The Invitation To be converted, one must believe, not overcome like Jesus (v. 21).

  17. Rev. 3:21 – The Reward The Overcomer rules with Christ for the same reasons and with similar results! Heb. 12:1-2
