  2. Simple facts • Glucose is a simple sugar • Chemical formula – C6H12O6 • A carbohydrate • Also known as a monosaccharide ( a smaller unit.) • Is also the source of energy to plants and animals. • If you have to much glucose then it stores in your liver and muscles.

  3. Chemical Composition •  The molecular formula for glucose is C6H12O6

  4. Importance in cell • Glucose is the basic building block of sugar • In animals, provides energy needed to preform specialized processes • In humans, “the body converts carbs into glucose to use as fuel”

  5. How its evolved making energy • The stomach and small intestines absorb the glucose and release it into the blood stream. • Glucose can be used immediately for energy • Can be stored for later use
