  5. Self directed support - is fundamentally about a shift of power • requires cultural change • is a significant change • takes into account people’s real wealth

  6. Co – production: - is fundamentally about a shift of power • requires cultural change • is a significant change • takes into account people’s real wealth

  7. More about self directed support. It’s about: • people having choice and control • exercising rights and taking responsibility • getting the life and support you want • an active rather than a passive process • people achieving the outcomes they want

  9. Self directed support: • ‘the system through which disabled people can get the life and support they want. It is an active process rather than something people are given’.

  12. So it feels like it should be ‘straightforward’ to embed co-production in a sustainable system of self directed support! Or not! Like most things it depends on how a system of self directed support is implemented
