  2. In this section you will learn about the ratification of the Constitution, and how Americans across the nation debated whether the Constitution would produce the best government.

  3. The Constitution provides for a Federalist form of government in which power is shared between the central (or federal) government and states.

  4. Those who supported the Constitution were called Federalists, and those who opposed to the Constitution were called Antifederalists.

Preamble to the Constitution • We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
