  2. Substantiation What is substantiation? • Substantiation is documentation that an expense is qualified. • The IRS requires that HRA funds be used for qualified expenses only.

  3. Substantiation When will you be asked to substantiate? • For card transactions used to pay expenses from your HRA.

  4. Notification Requests How will I be notified I need to substantiate? • By mail or email.

  5. Claim Matching What is claim matching? • Once the electronic claim is received by HealthEquity from Florida Blue, our system can match it to your debit card transaction. • Claims can be automatically matched to card transactions based on the date, amount and vendor.

  6. Claim Matching When will the claim not automatically match to my card transaction? • If you pay for more than one date of service at a time. • If you pay a discounted or partial amount at the time of service. • If HealthEquity does not receive the claim from Florida Blue (dental or vision).

  7. How to Claim Match If the claim and card transaction do not automatically match, you can match them from your member account. Select Reimbursement Account Detail from the My Money tab:

  9. Member Claim Matching To match the claim or submit your documentation select the Submit Documentation box:

  11. Matching Claims Check the box next to the claim(s) that you paid with this debit card transaction:

  12. Member Match Your medical claim from Florida Blue is now matched to the debit card transaction. This transaction has been substantiated:

Other Options For Substantiating • Upload your documentation and/or explanation of benefits directly to the debit card transaction from your member portal. • Send your documentation by mail, fax or email (contact information is included in the substantiation letter you received). • Use the HealthEquity mobile app.
