  2. The Sheep’s GateJohn 10:7-9 The Pasture Pen • Small enclosure of rocks or brush • One opening for a door • Shepherd would sleep in the opening • Only one way in • What does this teach us about Christianity? • What does the gate teach us about Jesus?

The Sheep’s GateJohn 10:7-9 Lesson 1 – “Only One Gate” • Jesus is the only way to God – John 14:6 • This makes little difference to other religions • It is crucial to Christianity • Jesus did not claim to merely know the truth but that He is the Truth • Therefore, if there is no Christ, then there is no way to God, no truth about God, no vitality

The Sheep’s GateJohn 10:7-9 Three Benefits • Jesus says anyone who enters will be saved • past – justification • present – sanctification • future – glorification • Jesus says anyone who enters in will be safe • “in and out” – Hebrew idiom that means security • It was a term of peace • Deuteronomy 28:6; 1 Kings 3:7; Psalm 121:8
