  3. The Convention 1787Pennsylvania Statehouse (Independence Hall) • Similar to your groups • Purpose of meeting was to redraft the Articles of Confederation • 55 delegates from 12 states met in Philadelphia from May to September

  4. James MadisonFather of the Constitution • Scribe of the group-took copious notes never missing a day • Madison was the man that physically wrote the Constitution • Later became the 4th President • His ideas would serve as the basis for discussion and debate at the convention

  26. THE REAL WORK & STRUGGLE NOW LAY AHEAD- THE DOCUMENT HAD TO BE RATIFIED BY 9 OF 13 STATES
