And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. Amen Mary McCool is a Northeast Florida native and career educator. She holds degrees from FSU and UNF. She is currently the Public Affairs Liaison Officer for Florida Virtual School (FLVS). As such, Mary is traveling the state acquainting public service organizations like Kiwanis with the mission, services and the impact FLVS is making upon the lives of young Floridians. In a nutshell, FLVS provides over 80 online high school core curriculum and elective classes completely free to students throughout Florida. Her presentation was a definite hit with members present who were impressed by both the school’s use of technology and numerous success stories. Several members asked questions that were both new and very useful to Mary. For more information on FLVS, check out their website at www.flvs.net. Friday, Feb 23rd – Fletcher Scholar Recognition Breakfast Mar 30 - April 1 - North Florida Mid-Winter Conference, Lake City Thursday, May 17  - DCM, Hosted by the Fernandina Beach Kiwanis Club July 5-8 - International Convention, San Antonio, Tx Thursday, Aug. 2  - DCM Host club - TBD Aug. 23-25 - Fl District Convention, Marco Island, FL MID-WINTER CONFERENCE The meeting will be held March 30th – April 1st, in Lake City, FL. The deadline to register is March 2nd. Among the highlights of the program will be the presentation of all 2005-06 Club and Individual Awards.  Arrive on Friday afternoon. Tuckers for dinner, then a nice stroll downtown after…What a combination! Morning session kicks off 7:30. GREAT Seminars till 1:30. Then off to the Hog Wild and Pig Crazy Barbecue Competition and Festivities at Lake City’s Memorial Stadium! Yea! Butch Shadwell, Chair With a few phone calls and a little encouragement, the Beaches Club members usually come through with a strong attendance to our Division 5 functions.   The Governor's visit to Division 5 (the eight clubs in this area) was held Friday, February 16 at the Westside Club's meeting site, the Holiday Inn at I-295 and Commonwealth. The buffet was great; Governor Phil Yorston's remarks were  inspirational; and the fellowship was enjoyable.   Our Beaches Club edged out a couple of other clubs with nine members plus two spouses attending: Leigh Roberts, Sevena Baum, John Bates, Dick Brand, Charlie and  Wanda Bender, Bill and Lea Montgomery, Neil Powell, Al Russ and Ed Robinson.      Now please mark your calendars and plan to attend the North Florida Mid-Year Conference in Lake City, Saturday, March 31st .
