Some statistics • 36000 visitors total at IBC • ~ 2000 at ISTV stand • 800 stands • 7 projects - 50 co-operating organisations • > 500 flyers distributed per demo • Press releases • ISTV, SAMBITS, NexTV, myTV • IBC Daily News • SAMBITS, TV Anytime - myTV • 2-4 people staffing each project at all times • 650 cans of soft drinks, 10 crew containers coffee, home-made brews

Feedback • Getting to know participating projects • Contacts with industry representatives • broadcast industry • manufacturers of broadcast and service delivery equipment • theatre and cinema directors • motion capture, • interactive television companies • Feedback from visitors. Good suggestions • Semi-testing of application scenario’s • Professional look of the booth attracted a lot of people • surprise effect; people don’t expect this from researchers

  5. Feedback • Visits from people in the DVB world • Sambits: implementation based on DVB MHP, incl. MPEG-4 and MPEG-7. Good promotion of DVB

Experiences • Working with professional stand designers and builders, results in • Good place to demo, to communicate, to have ‘off-lines’ • releases the organisational burden for projects • Small investment, high gain • shared by 7 projects -- distributed over 50 organisations • High appreciation of visits from EU project officers • Dependency risk: • One failing or underperforming project would have spoiled the works • Requires fallback scenario if event is to be repeated and/or repercussions

Experiences • Mismatch between name of booth and IBC catalogue • Project management team • 3 persons --- the minimum -- full time effort for 4 months • summertime -- difficult in Europe • Essential skills/experience needed • PR • Affinity with technical designs • Social skills and good contacts • Project management experience • All in all • success for all participants • professional way for dissemination of project results • REPEAT?
