  2. Unit 1 Thinkers US History • 16. What role did schools play in the Americanization movement to assimilate immigrants? • 17. How is migration different from immigration? • What is the difference between primary and secondary sources? • Answers: • 16. They became the centers for the Americanization process. • 17. Immigration is moving from one country to another where as migration is moving inside of the same country. • 18. Primary sources are first hand or eyewitness accounts. They are not without bias but where at least witnessed. Secondary sources are a retelling of the story but someone other then an eyewitness.
