  12. power based upon authority • make polite requests • make confident requests • make clear requests • make legitimate requests

  13. explain reasons for requests • follow channels • exercise authority regularly • insist upon compliance • be responsive to subordinate concerns

  14. power based upon information • don’t withhold information • don’t manipulate information • share information accurately • share information clearly • make certain information is received
