  3. Definitions: What/Who? • All pesticides with some exceptions: • I.e. Antimicrobial Pesticides: disinfectant or sanitizer. • School – licensed day care, Public K-12. • School Facilities include: buildings, structures, playgrounds, athletic fields, school vehicles & other school property.

  4. School to ProvideAnnual Notification • To all parents or guardians of students and employees. • Include: School’s pest control policies and methods, including posting & notification requirements.

  5. Pre-Notification System • At a minimum notifies interested parents or guardians of students and employees. • Notify at least 48 hrs. before application. • Post the pre-notification at a prominent location in the main office of the school.

  6. Exemptions to Prenotification • Antimicrobial pesticides. • Insect or rodent bait that is not accessible to children. • If application is made when school is not occupied by students for at least 2 consecutive days after the application.

  7. Actual Pre-Notification to Include: • Heading “Notice: Pesticide Application” • Name of product to be applied: • Intended date & time: • Location of application: • Pest to be controlled: • Name and phone # of school contact person:

  8. 48 Hour Time Frame • If the application is not made within 48 hours of the intended date the notification process shall be repeated.

  9. Posting of School Grounds (outdoors) • If application is made by a school employee: • Post at the time of application. • Place signs at location of application and at each primary point of entry to the school grounds.

  11. Posting of School Facilities (indoors) • Size 8½” X 11” at application site • Notice: Pesticide Application • Product name: • Date and time: • Location: • Pest controlled: • Name and number of contact person at the school:

  12. Posting Signs • To remain in place 24 hrs then removed by authorized school personnel. or • Consistent with label if REI > 24 Hrs.

  13. Removal of Signs • School not liable for the removal of signs by unauthorized persons. • School may not be held liable for personal property damage or bodily injury resulting from signs that are placed as required.

  14. Exemptions to Prenotification • Emergency applications • Poses an immediate human health or safety threat. • Notification to be given as soon as possible.

  15. Application Records • School shall make the records of all pesticide applications including an annual summary of the records: • Readily accessible to interested persons.

  16. How to Comply • Manual being developed by WSDA and the school task force. • Available prior to July 2002.
