Regulation 637 • Regulation 637 committee • Public Interest Groups (League of Women Voters, Sierra Club, Junior League, Localmotion, Private Citizen) • Industry (MNLA, MGIA, MABA, MPCA, MAAA, MAMA) • Other (Mosquito districts, Farm Bureau, MDEQ) • Filed with Secretary of State on 2-21-08 • Immediate Effect

Regulation 637 • Rule 4Vehicle Identification • Commercial Pesticide Applicator Business • Vehicle Identification – Printed or affixed on exterior of vehicle, legible and visable, in a typeface 3 inches high or larger. • Required information remains the same • Business Name • Address, phone number or USDOT census number

Drift Management • Rule 10 • Subrule (3) if drift occurs, notify residents of affected area. • Delete previous posting option • Replace with required notification information: • Name, address and phone number of a person who may be contacted • Person is responsible for supplying information concerning the application

  6. Posting & Notification • Rule 11 • Subrule (1) will be modified to eliminate conflict between (1) and other subrules regarding “broadcast, foliar and space” and “all pesticides”. • Only applies to commercial applicators (embedded in subrules) • Exempts general-use ready-to-use pesticides.

Posting & Notification • Rule 11 (2) Turf/Ornamental posting • Broadcast, Foilar or Space only. • Designate size of signage as 4” high x 5” wide (not a minimum, but a standard size) • Rigidconstruction • ONLY allow the required information on 4” x 5” area • Information on BOTH sides of sign • Green on White • Allow additional information with the written approval of the director • Restrict use of posting to pesticide applications ONLY • Diagram now in rule

Posting & Notification • Rule 11 (3) Golf Course Posting • Poster or Placard (Pro Shop, Locker, Registration Area) • “From time to time pesticides are in use…” • “Questions to superintendent….” • “…will supply information upon request” • Post 1st and 10th tees • The date and time of application • The common name of the pesticide applied • The areas treated • The label reentry precautions • The name of a person who may be contacted • Remain in effect until specific label reentry requirements have been fulfilled

Posting & Notification • Rule 11 (5) Community / Right-of-Way • Multiple Properties • No contract with owner/resident • Mosquito, Gypsy Moth, or Power Lines • Mosquito notification by….. • Personal Contact • Community Program • Written Notification • Pre-notify or exclude properties when requested • Provide general information when requested

Posting & Notification • Rule 11 (5) Multiple Use Areas • Developed Public outdoor areas • Parks, rest areas, campgrounds, etc. • Posting for 24 hours at primary points of entry • Notification includes • Business/Individual name, address and phone number • Pesticide brand name and active ingredients • Date of applications • Contact person and any reentry restrictions
