  3. Product Comparison Take out your homework. Show your partner your 2 products. Explain how they are similar and different in at least 5 ways. Ex. “The Nexus 7 has a larger screen than the Ipod touch. However, the Ipod 7 can fit in your pocket, while the Nexus 7 cannot.

  5. Pronunciation Linking

  6. Constructing Links Adding sounds : When a word that ends with a vowel sound is followed by a word beginning with a vowel sound they can be linked together by adding /w/ or /j/ (like y in 'yes'). Did you do all your homework?  →  sounds more like do+wall because of /w/ linking sound She asked a question. → sounds like she+yasked because of /j/ linking sound

  7. Practice linking these vowel sounds by adding the /w/ sound There was no answer. No, I don’t. Sure, go ahead. It’s so annoying. We can’t go in. Joe isn’t home. No, are you cold?

Moving Sounds Moving sounds: When a word that ends with a consonant sound, specifically stops like /t, d, k/, is followed by a word beginning with a vowel they are often linked together by moving the consonant to the beginning of the next work. I'm going to the post office. → po - sto– ffice Please turn off the light. → tur - noff

  9. Practice linking these words by moving the /t/ sound Post office- pos_toff_ice First Avenue- fir_sta_ve_nue A lot of- a_lo_tof Get off- ge_toff

Deleting Sounds Deleting sounds:When a word that ends with a consonant is followed by a word beginning with the same (or phonetically similar) consonant they can be linked together by deleting the first of those two consonants but keeping the original vowel sounds. What time is it?  → sounds like "wha time" /wʌ.taɪm/ She's wearing a red dress.  → sound like "re dress" /rɛ.drɛs/
