  3. Public two year colleges enroll 44% of all undergraduate students • More than half of all new college students begin at the community college (AACC 2000)

  5. Graduation Rate Comparisons • 30.9% of students who enter community colleges earn degrees within 3 years • 42.9% of students who enter four year public schools earn degrees within 6 years • 56.2% of four year private schools student earn degrees within 6 years (ACT 2000)

  9. Graduation Blitz • Teams formed across campus lines in Spring 2003 • Teams included Registration, Financial Aid, and Academic Advisors • Initial goal was to contact students regarding graduation checks

  10. Graduation Blitz • Students identified through a query of the SIS • Query criteria: within 9 hours of graduation, in good academic standing, and currently enrolled • Over 400 students called • 4 teams

  11. Graduation Blitz • TCC Foundation provided gift certificates to winning team • Replicated processes for the 2004 academic year • Teams wanted to incorporate process into standard procedures

  13. The Results • TCC ranked nationally per number of graduates: • 2001-02, 35th in the nation 1571 Graduates • 2002-03, 30th in the nation 1812 Graduates • 2003-04, 18th in the nation 2021 Graduates • 2004-05, data not released 2284 Graduates

  14. Graduation Blitz • The Third Year • Began new process of data mining • Use of comparative data with ONCOURSE • Compares degree audit function with criteria set by enrollment managers • Produced specific majors to focus graduation efforts
