History 1978 - Maruchan opened its first U.S. plant in Irvine, CA. 1984 - Maruchan was the official soup of the Olympics in Los Angeles. 1987 - Dr. Gene Ellis takes Maruchan to the top of Mount Everest. 1994 - Maruchanbecomes America’s top selling dry soup. 2004 – Maruchan introduces Yakisoba, Japanese stir fry noodles.

  3. Some Facts Maruchan Ramen Noodles were invented in Japan in 1958. They were given their name from the Chinese word “ramen”, which refers to noodles in a soup broth. Because they were easy to make they quickly spread worldwide.

  4. More Facts Because they spread worldwide, people would add their own ingredients to fit their tastes. They began putting Ramen Noodles in microwaveable styrofoam cups to make it convenient for travelers. There are over 1,000 Ramen Noodle restaurants in Japan today.
