  7. Common & Proper Nouns • Common:the general name for animals, people, places, things, & ideas • (uses the, a, an) • Proper:the specific name for animals, people, places, things, & ideas • (ALWAYS Capitalized).

  8. Common & Proper Nouns • Common Nouns: • the dog • a principal • an apple • Proper Nouns: • Kayla, Max, Spot • Principal Scarbrough, Vice-Principal Baietto • Macintosh, Red Delicious, Granny Smith

  9. Singular & Plural Nouns (Regular) • Singular:only one noun • Plural:more than one • Add “s”, “es”, or “ies” to make it plural • word ends with consonant - add ‘s’ • word ends with x, z, ch, sh - add ‘es’ • word ends with y - change y to i add es

  11. Singular & Plural Nouns • (Irregular) • Plural:there are some words that do not follow the regular rules of singular to plural, these are irregular • In these cases, • the word completely changes.

  17. Sentence Structure: • the subject either does something or is something • Verbs are the subject’s action • or • the subject’s existence

  19. Verbs change tense • TENSE is the timeof the verb • Regular & Irregular • Time: • Past - add ‘ed’ or change word • Present - as it already is • Future - add ‘is going to’ or • ‘will’ ‘will be’
